The best AirPods deals you can get right now

The AirPods Pro 3 are currently on sale for $219 ($30 off), which is about $10 more than their typical sale price. | Photo by Amelia Holowaty Krales / The Verge If you know where to look, you can often score deals on Apple’s ever-expanding AirPods lineup. Both the AirPods Max and AirPods 4 (with and without ANC) now consistently receive discounts, as do the newer AirPods Pro 3. And while more recent shopping events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday delivered some of the steepest discounts we’ve seen, there are still good deals to be found on every model. Below, we’ve rounded up the best deals currently available on each set of AirPods, including both iterations of the AirPods 4, the third-gen AirPods Pro, and the AirPods Max. The best AirPods 4 deals Apple AirPods 4 Where to Buy: $129 $99 at Amazon $129.99 $89 at Walmart $129.99 $99.99 at Best Buy AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation Where to Buy: $179 $119 at Amazon $179 $119 at Walmart $179 $119.99 at Costco At the end of 2024, Apple introduced the AirPods 4, a pair of wireless earbuds available in two variations: a $129 standard model and a $179 noise-canceling model. Both versions represent significant upgrades over the third-gen AirPods, with a more comfortable design and improved audio performance. They’re also better for taking calls thanks to Apple’s Voice Isolation feature, which focuses the mics on your voice so you can be heard more clearly in noisy environments. The $179 AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation offer a surprisingly effective noise-canceling mode, a helpful transparency mode, and several other Pro-level features. The latest AirPods Pro do a better job of tuning out noise, but the AirPods 4 with ANC still do a good job of reducing sound. They also feature other perks formerly reserved for Apple’s top-of-the-line earbuds, including wireless charging and a case with a built-in speaker that allows you to easily track it down via Apple’s Find My app. Given they’ve b

Elgato's Stream Deck + XL adds a touch strip and dials to an already massive array of buttons

Elgato's Stream Deck + XL adds a touch strip and dials to an already massive array of buttons

Elgato's Stream Deck helped popularize using a macro pad among aspiring livestreamers and regular desk jockeys, so it's only natural for the brand to continue to expand on its lineup. After announcing a suite of new Stream Deck devices last year, Elgato is kicking off 2026 with the Stream Deck + XL, a larger version of the already big Stream Deck XL, and a collection of new audio accessories that should help improve sound mixing in and out of livestreams. The Stream Deck + XL not only expands on the number of buttons on the regular Stream Deck XL (from 32 customizable buttons to 36 customizable buttons), but also introduces multiple new control options, including a touch strip and six dials. All the controls on the new Stream Deck are customizable, and the presence of the touch strip means you can receive visual feedback about adjustments you're making while you're making them. The new macro pad should still work well as a way to quickly end a live stream or queue up a transition, and Elgato says that paired with its new Wave XLR Pro audio interface, the Stream Deck + XL could also become a straightforward tool for sound mixing, too. The XLR Dock MK. 2 adds an XLR input to the Stream Deck +. Elgato The Wave XLR Pro "integrates two fully independent XLR inputs with 80 dB of clean gain each," Elgato says, along with multiple headphone outputs and "a built-in Maximizer effect" that can maintain consistent loudness. When you're livestreaming, Elgato's says the Wave XLR Pro's "per-channel ducking" can also automatically lower other audio sources when you speak. The XLR Pro is one of several Wave audio products Elgato is announcing alongside the Stream Deck + XL, a lineup which also includes a new condenser microphone and a new way to connect XLR microphones to the company's smaller Stream Deck. The XLR Dock MK. 2, exclusively compatible with the Stream Deck +, lets you connect professional XLR audio devices directly to your Stream Deck. The Dock "adds 80 dB of clean gai

How far will it escalate? Iran draws in region as Israel, US expand campaign

It's only Day 4 and already, an under attack Iran's drawn in the whole region: targets incude the US embassy in Saudi Arabia, oil and gas installations up and down the Gulf, France’s military base in Abu Dhabi - all part of Iran’s strategy to employ cheap homemade drones to shut business, spook markets and scare away tourists as it defends against an existential threat that saw its leader eliminated in the opening hours of the US and Israeli bombing campaign.

The Stream Deck Plus XL has more than four times as many LCD keys as the smaller original version. | Image: Elgato After supersizing its Stream Deck controller into a product designed for professional broadcast environments in 2024, Elgato is giving a similar treatment to the three-year-old Stream Deck Plus. The new Stream Deck Plus XL is essentially the same product as the original, but with more macro buttons, more dials, a wider touchscreen, and a bigger footprint. It's also $150 more expensive. Will the Iran crisis feature in foreign policy talks at China’s ‘two sessions’?

Iran is unlikely to dominate the agenda at this year’s national legislative sessions but it is likely to feature in policy discussions, according to observers. Analysts said the Middle East turmoil could prompt a broader rethink in some policy areas in Beijing, including a reassessment of its Middle East strategy and how it can safeguard its expanding overseas interests. The “two sessions”, the annual meetings of China’s top legislature and political advisory body, get under way this week, with...

Trump faces MAGA mounting criticism on Iran war

President Donald Trump on Monday pushed back against mounting criticism that he hasn't done enough to explain why it was necessary to start a war with Iran now or to articulate his vision for an endgame to the escalating conflict. The frustration is coming not just from the political left but also from his “Make America Great Again” base, as the conflict expands, energy prices surge, and the death toll in the Middle East rises.

Show HN: Open-Source Article 12 Logging Infrastructure for the EU AI Act

EU legislation (which affects UK and US companies in many cases) requires being able to truly reconstruct agentic events. I've worked in a number of regulated industries off & on for years, and recently hit this gap. We already had strong observability, but if someone asked me to prove exactly what happened for a specific AI decision X months ago (and demonstrate that the log trail had not been altered), I could not. The EU AI Act has already entered force, and its Article 12 kicks-in in August this year, requiring automatic event recording and six-month retention for high-risk systems, which many legal commentators have suggested reads more like an append-only ledger requirement than standard application logging. With this in mind, we built a small free, open-source TypeScript library for Node apps using the Vercel AI SDK that captures inference as an append-only log. It wraps the model in middleware, automatically logs every inference call to structured JSONL in your own S3 bucket, chains entries with SHA-256 hashes for tamper detection, enforces a 180-day retention floor, and provides a CLI to reconstruct a decision and verify integrity. There is also a coverage command that flags likely gaps (in practice omissions are a bigger risk than edits). The library is deliberately simple: TS, targeting Vercel AI SDK middleware, S3 or local fs, linear hash chaining. It also works with Mastra (agentic framework), and I am happy to expand its integrations via PRs. Blog post with link to repo: https://systima.ai/blog/open-source-article-12-audit-logging I'd value feedback, thoughts, and any critique. How the new iPhone 17E stacks up against Apple’s pricier phones

Unlike its predecessor, the iPhone 17E supports MagSafe. | Image: Apple The iPhone 17 lineup now has a “budget” option. Announced this week, the iPhone 17E will hit stores on Wednesday, March 11th, starting at $599, with preorders opening on March 4th. The 6.1-inch phone joins the rest of Apple’s iPhone 17 lineup, which includes the iPhone 17 ($799), the more powerful iPhone 17 Pro ($1,099), and the iPhone 17 Pro Max ($1,199), as well as the ultra-thin iPhone Air ($999). Unlike last year’s iPhone 16E, the 17E features MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging, along with the faster A19 chip found in the iPhone 17 and twice as much base storage (256GB vs. 128GB). It also features a sharper, more durable display, retains support for Apple Intelligence, and includes a 48-megapixel “fusion” camera that enables 2x telephoto shots, all of which bring it closer to Apple’s more premium phones. But at $599, the 17E doesn’t include all of the bells and whistles found in the rest of Apple’s current iPhone lineup. For example, it only has a 6.1-inch 60Hz display — the smallest display of any iPhone 17 series phone — and lacks features like an always-on display and Dynamic Island, a pill-shaped cutout that shows info, like ride-share updates, at a glance. It’s also noticeably dimmer, with a peak brightness of 1,200 nits. Camera hardware is another differentiator. While the 17E, Air, and standard iPhone 17 all share a 48-megapixel main sensor, the iPhone 17 has a dedicated ultrawide camera, which also enables macro photography for close-up shots. The 17 and Air also offer an 18-megapixel front-facing camera — the 17E only has a 12-megapixel shooter — which could translate to sharper selfies and clearer video calls. The Pro and Pro Max models expand further with more advanced camera arrays, including the addition of dedicated telephoto cameras. Plus, all except the 17E include the Camera Control button, which is designed to help people quickly launch the camera and adjust various settin

The Samsung Wallet can now hold your house keys

Samsung's newest feature turns your phone into your house keys. The company has created the Digital Home Key, a feature inside of the Samsung Wallet that should let you unlock any compatible smart door with your phone. The Samsung Wallet already offered digital car keys.  "As we continue to evolve Samsung Wallet, delivering trusted mobile experiences remains at the core of our innovation," Woncheol Chai, EVP and head of Digital Wallet Team, Mobile eXperience (MX) Business at Samsung Electronics, said in a statement. "Through close collaboration with our partners and in alignment with the Aliro standard, Digital Home Key brings the same level of security and ease Samsung Galaxy users expect from Samsung Wallet to their homes." Created by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), Samsung calls Aliro an "industry-standardized communication protocol." The Digital Home Key will also get support from smart lock brands like Nuki and Schlage. It's also designed to meet EAL6+ security certification.  According to Samsung, you'll also need biometrics or a PIN to use the Digital Home Key. You should be able to remotely manage or remove the tool through Samsung Find if you lose your phone. Samsung is rolling out the Digital Home Key in select regions starting this month. It plans to expand its range as compatible smart lock brands become available in more locations.  This article originally appeared on Engadget at https://www.engadget.com/home/smart-home/the-samsung-wallet-can-now-hold-your-house-keys-142944132.html?src=rss
