PDP’s wireless guitar controller has returned to its best price to date

The early 2020s were kind of a dark time if you were a fan of Rock Band. PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X owners didn’t get an improved, more feature-packed guitar controller until early 2024 when PDP launched the Riffmaster. While it launched for $129.99 and later rose to $149.99, you can now grab it for $99.99 at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy in the run-up to Amazon’s Big Spring Sale. The current deal price (which has only happened once before) applies to both the Xbox and PlayStation versions, as well as the newer Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 versions. PDP Riffmaster PDP’s Riffmaster is a wireless guitar accessory compatible with Rock Band 4 and Fortnite Festival. It has two sets of color-coded buttons you can press to hit notes as they appear on the screen, a built-in 3.5mm audio jack for connecting headphones, and an analog stick to help you easily navigate through each game’s menus. Where to Buy: $149.99 $99.99 at Amazon (PlayStation 5) $149.99 $99 at Amazon (Xbox Series X / S) $149.99 $99.99 at Amazon (Nintendo Switch) While Rock Band 4 was delisted last October, making the game (and its many downloadable songs) impossible to buy on consoles, the Riffmaster is compatible with Fortnite Festival, which, like the rest of Epic’s online multiplayer game, is a free-to-play experience. Additionally, the Xbox version of the Riffmaster boasts Windows PC compatibility, making it the one to get if you want to play community-built games like Clone Hero. As far as components go, the Riffmaster makes it easier to navigate system and game menus with its built-in analog stick, which is located behind the fret buttons at the top of the collapsible neck. The wireless controller features a rechargeable battery that charges via USB-C, too, and PDP claims it can last for up to 36 hours per charge. It also has a 3.5mm headphone jack in case you’d prefer to listen to your game audio privately.

HKUST launches programme offering Alzheimer’s blood-based test for elderly

A university in Hong Kong has launched an Alzheimer’s disease screening programme using a locally developed blood-based testing technology – the first of its kind globally – which will benefit 6,000 underprivileged elderly people over five years. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia, affecting one in 10 Hongkongers aged 60 or above, with prevalence increasing with age, according to a Department of Health report in 2025. Announcing the “NeuroCare Community Project” on Monday,...

To realise Hong Kong’s cultural potential, a global vision is essential

The power of arts and culture should not be underestimated. They educate, inform, inspire and bring joy. They open doors to discovery, unite communities and break down barriers between cultures and people. In a broader context, the arts help to define our cities, offering a point of focus for the community and an opportunity to develop a clear cultural identity. Hong Kong has been successful in defining itself as a financial centre, but culture can play as big a role as capital in determining...

Crimson Desert developer apologizes and promises to replace AI-generated art

The developer behind the open-world RPG Crimson Desert has issued an official apology after players discovered several instances of AI-generated art in the game. Pearl Abyss posted on X that it released the game with some 2D visual props that were made with "experimental AI generative tools" and forgot to replace them before launch. We would like to address questions regarding the use of AI in Crimson Desert. During development, some 2D visual props were created as part of early-stage iteration using experimental AI generative tools. These assets helped us rapidly explore tone and atmosphere in the earlier… — Crimson Desert (@CrimsonDesert_) March 22, 2026 Just a day after Crimson Desert's launch, players took to social media to post reports of potential generative AI usage. Pearl Abyss said on X that "following reports from our community, we have identified that some of these assets were unintentionally included in the final release." Now, the game's Steam page has an AI generated content disclosure, which says that, "generative AI technology is used in a supplementary capacity during the creation of some 2D prop assets" which are later replaced. Moving forward, Pearl Abyss said it will conduct a "comprehensive audit of all in-game assets and are taking steps to replace any affected content." The developer said that these updated assets will roll out in upcoming patches, and that the team would internally review how it communicates with its player base to provide more "transparency and consistency." Pearl Abyss isn't the only developer to fail to disclose the use of AI-generated assets in its games. Late last year, Sandfall Interactive was stripped of its Game of the Year and Debut Game awards from the Indie Game Awards for the use of generative AI in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for placeholder textures that were mistakenly left in the game. Like Pearl Abyss, Arc Raiders' developer Embark Studios is going back and replacing AI-generated material in its game after

Ask HN: Apple terminated our dev account over a rogue employee

I know that HN isn't a customer support forum and it might not be right to post this here, but we are absolutely desperate and hoping someone in this community can point us in the right direction. We are a small software company in Africa. For over two years, we've built and maintained an app. It has become a vital economic engine for our local community, employing a whole fleet of delivery agents and serving as a lifeline for local stores and restaurants. Recently, we discovered that a single employee used a shared company machine to engage in unauthorized activities that violated Apple's Developer Terms of Service. We took immediate action: we fired the employee on the spot and completely overhauled our security. We revoked all individual access and implemented mandatory, peer-reviewed, supervised sessions for any Apple Developer portal access. The problem is the collateral damage. Apple terminated our entire organization's account. We submitted an appeal through App Store Connect, but we feel completely stuck behind automated walls. We have also emailed Apple executives, but are waiting in the dark. Because of this one employee's actions, our app is facing total removal, and families in our community are quite literally losing their daily income. We aren't asking for special treatment, just a chance for a real human at App Review to look at the security steps we've taken and consider a second chance. If anyone here has been through this, has advice, or knows how to get a human at Apple to actually read our appeal, our entire community would be forever grateful. Thank you so much for your time. Disarming Hezbollah 'extremely difficult', expert says amid Israel tensions

It has been “extremely difficult” for the Lebanese government to disarm Hezbollah since the 2024 ceasefire with Israel, despite ongoing Israeli strikes in Lebanon, said Ziad Majed, professor of Middle East studies at the American University of Paris. He noted that Lebanese authorities face a dilemma over whether to pursue disarmament while contending with a hostile Israel on its borders and a spiralling economic crisis. Majed also highlighted Hezbollah’s Lebanese roots, despite receiving funding and weapons from Iran, adding that many of its members come from villages destroyed by Israel. He added that Hezbollah and its allies represent the majority of Lebanon’s Shia community, one of the country’s largest minorities.

Hawaii suffers worst flooding in 20 years, with more rain expected

Hawaii suffered its worst flooding in more than 20 years as heavy rains fell on soil already saturated by downpours from a winter storm a week ago, officials said on Friday, while warning that more rain was expected during the weekend. Muddy floodwaters smothered vast stretches of Oahu’s North Shore, a community world renowned for its big-wave surfing. Raging waters lifted homes and cars and prompted evacuation orders for 5,500 people north of Honolulu. Authorities cautioned that a 120-year-old...

Record-breaking heatwave grips western US at tail end of winter

A punishing heatwave has been gripping the western United States, with parts of the region logging record temperatures - even though it was still winter. A desert community in southwestern Arizona reached 43.3 degrees Celsius (110 Fahrenheit) on Thursday, breaking a record for the highest March temperature recorded in the United States. The record-setting temperature was recorded just outside Martinez Lake, Arizona, in the Yuma Desert. The previous record of 42.2 degrees had been set in Rio...

South Korean cafe’s US$1.35 ‘toilet without ordering’ menu flush with criticism

A social media post showing a cafe charging 2,000 won (US$1.35) for restroom use without a purchase has sparked heated debate online in South Korea. The image featured a screenshot of a self-order kiosk displaying a menu item reading “restroom use without ordering”, priced at 2,000 won per person per visit. The post also drew mixed reactions in an online community for small business owners. One user said the fee was understandable, writing that many people come in just to use the restroom...
