As Marvel gears up for some new video games with Marvel Tokon and Marvel’s Wolverine, it’s also taking the time to bring back some childhood faves with the Marvel Maximum Collection. Earlier this week, Marvel and Konami the six-game bundle, which “takes players on a comprehensive tour of Marvel’s gaming legacy.” The collection covers ’90s games, specifically: X-Men: The Arcade Game, Spider-Man/Venom: Maximum Carnage, Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety, Silver Surfer, Captain America & the Avengers, and Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade’s Revenge. Most of the games featured released on the Super Nintendo, or Sega Genesis/Mega Drive (save for the NES-only Silver Surfer and the X-Men arcade), and all are making their modern gaming debut. Players will be able to switch between each game’s individual version—the “rich color palette” of Maximum Carnage on SNES, or the “gritty vibe” found on Genesis, for example, and Arcade’s Revenge also includes its handheld editions on Game Gear and Game Boy. And what’s more, there’s modern day additions like a music player, rewind and save states, digital art scans that include hi-res versions of original box art, instruction manuals, and vintage ads. Look for the Marvel Maximum Collection on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Steam, and Xbox Series X|S later this year, with a physical edition coming from Limited Run. Want more io9 news?
