The big horror flick of the weekend is Scream 7, but coming in the not-too-distant future is Scary Movie 6. And while the trailer for that isn’t online yet, that hasn’t stopped leaks from hitting the internet, including from franchise star Marlon Wayans. “It’s opening night of Scream 7, but really, it’s opening night for the teaser! This better be funny,” said Wayans on Instagram. Jumping into a theater playing Scream, he sat down and kept his camera on his face, occasionally taking a peek at the screen and dark crowd around him. Theatergoers seemed to love it once they realized what it was, and Wayans walked out to applause from the audience, which hopefully bodes well for the finished product. Other than it containing brief jabs at Scream 6 and last year’s Sinners, details on Scary Movie 6 are very few. What we do know is Wayans will be back in front of the camera as Shorty Meeks, joined by fellow series alums Regina Hall (Brenda), Anna Faris (Cindy), Wayans’ brother Shawn (Ray), and Chris Elliott. Previously, Marlon Wayans has said the film will be an equal opportunity offender; hence, the “pronouns” joke at the start of the teaser. Whatever other jokes join the fun… well, probably prepare yourself to laugh or wince at the humor to come. Look for Scary Movie 6 to hit theaters on June 12, with the teaser probably hitting the internet sometime next week. Want more io9 news?
