President Donald Trump said in his State of the Union address Tuesday that he prefers a diplomatic agreement with Iran instead of engaging in military operations. However, he warned Iran about the use of nuclear weapons. “My preference is to solve this problem through diplomacy, but one thing is certain, I will never allow the the world’s number one sponsor of terror, which they are by far, to have a nuclear weapon,” he said. Trump has ordered an increased military presence in the Middle East, and he was briefed by U.S. Central Command Adm. Brad Cooper Thursday on Iran, Axios reported. “We do not seek to ignite wars, but we are not afraid of them, and we will vigorously defend our homeland and the interests of our people,” Iranian Brigadier General Abolfazl Shekarchi said, according to Axios.
