Nigerians have taken to social media platform X to react to the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, council elections, with many users voicing displeasure and jubilation over the outcome. Several posts reflected frustration and distrust in the electoral process, as some users accused electoral authorities of lacking transparency and warned of growing voter apathy if confidence in elections continues to decline. Others predicted that the outcome of the FCT poll could signal what to expect in future national polls, particularly the 2027 general elections. Below are some of the reactions: Reacting to the outcome of the election, @BIG DAN, said, “The opposition should not let this slide.” On his part, @Frank, said, “This is exactly what will happen in 2027.” Another user, @Mkay, wrote, “Nigeria and lies.” @tonykasyno said, “Nigerians are slaves in their own country. Modern slavery.” Also, @Toba Truth said, “This INEC will cause big problem in this country soon with the way things are going.” In the same vein, @Sirdavis234 commented, “I pity those that will go and waste their time to vote next year.* @Ola_Omodaa wrote, “There will always be a discrepancy in an election result with the rate at which we are seeing altered figures.” @sucrenwa said, “This is the reason they don’t want real time election. They depend on tipex form.” @MayorOfAbuja said, “With this APC government, free and fair elections will be hard.” Also reacting, @GIST observed, “Please let the focus shift to removing APC from power. Please we need the coalition. Atiku and Obi should come together for the sake of the country.” Sharing his views, @ObiDemocrat, said, “Three horse race can even favour Peter Obi more. This has been my stand. Peter Obi should use his international influence and start pushing for their intervention regarding the bloody election rigging. That’s all.” Another X user, @haby2610, said, “The election results reflect Wike’s significant influence in the FCT, and his ability to sway voters and party members.” @JubalKraft wrote, “Watch the only PDP winner decamp to APC in the coming days…….. This is as good as 6/6 for APC.” @Oluwagbéminíjà noted, “The real hero is that man in PDP that still won a seat despite all that’s going on with that political party.” Reacting, @JoelPricAction said, “If less than 8% of the eligible voters can decide election and politicians, INEC has enshrined lack of transparency on the electoral process thereby causing voters apathy. And they don’t find it troublesome. This is no longer democracy and we need another form of government. Obviously this is not majority speaking who should govern them.” Also, @Dannymasterp said, “This is just the beginning of what APC as a party is capable of doing in the entire Nigeria political landscape and it’s big lesson for the opposition party to learn that the Nigeria system of politics is no longer what it used to be before. “The bar has been raised and standards has been uplifted, Now it takes political leaders with credibility and competent in grassroots mobilization and ability to convince people and maintain an influence.” Another X user, @Jeff, expressed disappointment, saying, “This is just the simple truth…all the Atiku supporters didn’t even hide their hate for @PeterObi, Obidient Movement and their zeal in trying to prove a point even when they know very well that the AMAC candidate was rigged out. The coalition is fake and they are not serious” @mayorchinemere said, “Coalition members are not serious. I wonder what Peter Obi is doing there. Run on your own and motivate Nigerians to face APC madness for madness. Atiku’s supporters hate PO. The rubbish coalition won’t work. Let’s move back to LP abeg.”
