March 2 (UPI) -- Several U.S. military aircraft crashed in Kuwait on Monday, as Iran launched retaliatory strikes against Israel and U.S. targets across the Middle East. The number of aircraft downed was not mentioned in the Kuwaiti Defense Ministry statement, reported by the official state Kuwait News Agency, nor was the cause of the crashes. The statement was released as uncorroborated video circulated online showing a jet on fire and tumbling to the ground in Kuwait. The U.S. Central Command, whose area of responsibility includes the Middle East, has yet to comment.Kuwait's defense minister, Col. Saud Al-Atwan, said all crew members survived and were transported to hospitals in stable condition to assess their condition and provide medical care if needed. At least three U.S. soldiers have been killed and another five have been seriously injured in the last two days of fighting between the United States and Iran.Israel and the U.S. military began attacking Iran on Saturday, killing several senior Iranian officials, including the country's spiritual leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.Trump has warned that additional Americans "will likely" be killed in action before the goal of regime change is achieved.Iran on Monday was continuing to retaliate, targeting Israel and U.S. assets in the Middle East, including Kuwait. This is a developing story.
