With Google having announced its barely-any-different Pixel 10a last week, Apple expected to release the iPhone 17e in the coming days, and now Nothing now dropping the whole design for its Phone 4a ahead of its March 5 launch event, it sure feels like it’s midrange phone launch season. Posted to Nothing’s X account, the reveal of the Phone 4a comes after weeks of playful social media content. These teasers for the new A-series have been even more bizarre and suggestive than the ones the company’s shared in the past. One post has a condom (yes, really) alongside the words “coming soon” and another has pills with “feel good.” The Nothing Phone 4a’s design. © Nothing As you can see in the image above, Nothing’s continuing with its signature retro-futuristic design language, incorporating transparent and industrial elements to create an eye-catching phone you wouldn’t wanna slip into a case. We’ve yet to see the rumored “4a Pro” variant, but if it resembles this design, it should be less divisive than the Phone 3a Pro and Phone 3, both of which drew heavy criticism for their oddball, asymmetric camera arrays. I have yet to see the Phone 4a in person, but I like the Y2K tech aesthetic. The shapes and colors of some of the panels remind me of old Nike Triax watches from the late ’90s into the early ’00s. “This time, we have added even more aluminum elements – including the buttons – giving it a more premium feel,” Nothing cofounder Akis Evangelidis said on X. “The design also feels more confident, with slightly fewer parts overall, yet still plenty of thoughtful details throughout.” The Essential Key—the button on the side for taking screenshots and using AI to organize that information—seems to have moved from the left side, below the power button, to the right side. Tech specs haven’t been revealed yet, but we can see the camera module has three camera lenses. At the very least, Nothing isn’t removing cameras to keep costs down. Nothing has confirmed that the Phone 4a will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset. Which specific one, we don’t know, but it’ll likely be something midrange from the Snapdragon 7-series, either a 7 Gen 4 or 7S Gen 4. The company’s phones are known to have a gimmick and the Phone 4a appears to be no different. Nothing said in an X post that the Phone 4a will have a “Glyph Bar” with “9 individually controllable mini-LEDs, 40% brighter than previous (a) series.” I’ll have to see how useful the Glyph Bar is. The Glyph Matrix on the Phone 3 was a fun idea, but I ended up not using it often or at all. I found the Glyph Interface on the Phone 1, 2, 3a, and 3a Pro just the right balance of cool design and useful function. What’s next? We’re introducing the Glyph Bar for Phone (4a). 9 individually controllable mini-LEDs, 40% brighter than previous (a) series. Patented tech for a more natural, neutral, bleed-free glow. More to come. 5 March, 10:30 GMT. pic.twitter.com/3OykioVCdu — Nothing (@nothing) February 20, 2026 Nothing has shared other teasers on X. This one for the A-series shows a bunch of yellow-colored stuff in a kitchen, suggesting the company is “baking” some new products. It could mean the Phone 4a will come in yellow, or perhaps it’s a teaser for the rumored Nothing Headphone A? (a) series. pic.twitter.com/MGKHMRSTFM — Nothing (@nothing) February 21, 2026 All will be revealed on March 5 at 5:30 a.m. ET / 10:30 GMT.
