Please consider supporting SCMP’s journalism by subscribing.Hongkongers should brace for cooler and rainy weather on Tuesday as temperatures are expected to drop progressively to as low as 16 degrees Celsius (61 Fahrenheit) as a cold front approaches, according to the city’s weather forecaster.The Hong Kong Observatory said on Monday that a cold front over inland Guangdong was moving southwards and was expected to reach coastal areas between the evening and early Tuesday.“Under the influence of the northeast monsoon associated with the cold front, the weather will become cool over Guangdong in the next couple of days,” it said. “An upper-air disturbance will also bring rainy weather to the region.”The forecaster said the minimum temperatures would dip progressively from 21 degrees to around 16 to 17 degrees on Tuesday.According to the latest nine-day forecast, there will be occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms on Tuesday, with a few rainy patches persisting into Wednesday.
