on February 26, 2026 Congressman Scott Peters announced Tuesday he is running for reelection to California’s 50th Congressional District, which includes parts of Escondido. He emphasized his work to lower costs and strengthen the economy, support veterans, protect the environment and deliver results for the San Diego region. He also highlighted his strong opposition to the Trump Administration’s policies. “It’s been an honor to represent the cities of San Diego, Coronado, Poway, Escondido, and other parts of the county in Congress,” Peters said. “My mission is simple: work with everyone, regardless of politics or party, to solve problems and get things done. I’ll never stop working to lower costs, create jobs, and support San Diego’s key economic engines.
