Romania needs a faster adaptation to the new European mechanisms and shorter waiting times in the process of introducing innovative therapies, Minister Alexandru Rogobete said on Thursda attending an informal meeting of health ministers, organised by the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union."Today I am participating in the informal meeting of health ministers, organised by the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union, where I supported the initiative of the commission to establish a European Centre of Clinical Excellence for Pharmaceuticals. In my speech, I clearly expressed Romania's need for a faster adaptation to the new European mechanisms and for reducing waiting times in the process of introducing innovative therapies. For patients, every month counts," the minister wrote in a social media post.According to him, the advantages to Romania are concrete: faster access to harmonised clinical guidelines and protocols at European level, accelerated access to innovative therapies and personalised treatments, especially in oncology, reduction of gaps in access to innovation compared to other member states, more efficient integration of advanced therapies and modern biotechnologies."In a context in which precision medicine evolves rapidly, we cannot afford administrative delays that affect the real chances of patients. As minister of health, I firmly support Romania's accession to this European group. The objective is clear: increasing access of Romanian patients to the latest guidelines and to innovative therapies, under safe, efficient and transparent circumstances."
