The New Dismembered Tennesseans Physicians, community leaders, and friends will come together Friday, April 10, for the Chattanooga-Hamilton County Medical Society and Foundation’s Denim & Diamonds. The event will be held at Collegedale Commons. Individual tickets are on sale at ChattMD.org. This annual fundraiser helps support the Southeast Tennessee Project Access community health partnership, the LifeBridge Physician Wellbeing Initiative, youth educational programs, and a wide range of community health initiatives. Denim & Diamonds is highlighted by live bluegrass from The New Dismembered Tennesseans and The Appalachian String Band. In addition, mouthwatering BBQ will be served by BBQ Rowe. “Denim & Diamonds is one of Chattanooga’s fun events, and this year will be no exception,” said Rae Bond, Medical Society and Foundation chief executive officer. “Think of this year as an elevated backyard BBQ complete with music, fun, and great food. We want the community to know how much we appreciate their support of our programs to improve community health.” Project Access connects uninsured residents of Southeast Tennessee with specialty care, hospital care, and other services. It has coordinated $245 million in donated health care services to almost 28,000 uninsured individuals since its inception in April 2004. “Project Access saves lives,” Ms. Bond said. “The funds we raise at Denim & Diamonds support this work, allowing us to reach more patients across Southeast Tennessee. We chose Collegedale for this event to better engage both the Hamilton and Bradley County medical communities.” “Denim & Diamonds also supports our LifeBridge physician well-being program, and provides a safety net of resources for doctors who are at risk of burnout,” Ms. Bond said. “The program tries to care for our caregivers.” Event proceeds also support future doctors through the Foundation’s Future Docs program. It offers opportunities for high school and undergraduate college students to job shadow local physicians and participate in medical vocation education. Some of our graduates now are actively practicing medicine in their respective communities. Denim & Diamonds is open to the public. Table sponsorships are available and individual tickets are $150. To purchase your table or tickets, call the Medical Society at 423 622-2872 or visit chattmd.org. Sponsorship opportunities are available.
