Ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ward congresses scheduled for Today, February 18 to 21, party stakeholders have accused the party of not adhering to the consensus arrangement directed by the state governor, Douye Diri.Governor Diri, who defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to APC last October, is now saddled with the responsibilities of uniting the party as the leader of the party in the state. The national leadership of APC had fixed Today Wednesday, February 18 for its ward congresses while the exercise at different local governments will be held on Friday, February 20, 2026.SPONSOR AD Members of the party loyal to former Governor Timipre Sylva, who claim to be the original members of APC that worked for the success of President Bola Tinubu during the 2023 general election and the victories of other APC candidates since 2015, are said to have been sidelined. They allege favours are given to those who defected with Governor Diri, saying if such abnormalities are allowed, it will affect the unity of the party.Daily Trust recalls that former Governor Timipre Sylva, who is the founding leader of APC and face of opposition in the state before the Governor Diri joined the party, is having a running battle with the government over his accusation of sponsoring coup against the APC government of President Bola Tinubu. Also, the the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) is haunting Sylva for alleged financial crime, but Sylva on his own has denied involvement in all the allegations. It was gathered that the situation has made Sylva, once a powerful figure in Bayelsa politics to go out of circulation, thereby leaving his supporters in APC stranded. In Sagbama Local government, stakeholders and ward executives of APC have rejected the arrangements leading to the ward congresses. Also, in Bomo clan, Southern Ijaw local government, a socio-political group, ‘Bomo Mandate Forum’ has firmly rejected an alleged resolution for the zoning of the office of Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area to Constituency Three ahead of the party’s forthcoming congresses. In a press statement issued to journalists in Yenagoa, the Chairman of the Forum, Chief Elder Dominic Richard Bafagha, alongside the Secretary, Chief James Jonah-Alu, described the said resolution as a “kangaroo arrangement” purportedly orchestrated by a few individuals without the knowledge or consent of critical stakeholders.UPDATE NEWS: Nigerians can now invest ₦2.5 million on premium domains and profit about ₦17-₦25 million. Why the Fed credibility crisis will hit emerging markets harder

As political pressure on the US Federal Reserve intensifies in Washington, the reverberations are rippling across the globe. Gregory Peters, co-chief investment officer of fixed income at PGIM, has noted that bringing political pressure to bear on the Fed is an “own goal” – a self-inflicted shock that erodes confidence and is unlikely to deliver lower borrowing costs for the US. This reassessment – marked by quiet “sell America” trades – is beginning to surface. The damage extends far beyond...

Sunday shows preview: Trump tariff setback looms large ahead of State of Union

The Supreme Court’s ruling this week against President Trump’s tariffs was a major setback for the White House’s economic platform. The Trump administration has made bold promises that these sweeping tariffs would help elevate the U.S.’s standing on the global stage by pressuring international partners into new trade agreements. However, on Friday, the court ruled...
